Day One: Explore the Waterfront Promenade

Shanghai is a stunning city known as the上海娱乐 “Paris of the East” for its beauty and charm. On your first day, head to the famous Bund, the waterfront promenade that’s a central attraction of Shanghai. Day Three: Modern Architecture and Art

Begin your third day at the iconic Jin Mao Tower. You can take the elevator to the observation deck on the 88th floor to take in awe-inspiring views of the city.

Next, explore the Putuo district and M50 art district. There are plenty of galleries that showcase contemporary Chinese art, providing visitors a good sense of the local art scene.

Day Four: Water Villages and Temples

For a change of pace, spend your day in Zhujiajiao, a water village located in the suburbs of Shanghai. Enjoy a boat ride down the canals or stroll down the narrow streets and appreciate the village’s traditional architecture.

While returning to the city, stop by the Longhua Temple, which was built in 242 AD and is the oldest and largest temple in Shanghai. It houses a variety of religious relics and statues that are not to be missed.

Day Five: Food and Nightlife

A visit to Shanghai would not be complete without trying the city's famous dishes. Go to a local restaurant and try the shengjianbao, a pan-fried dumpling stuffed with vegetables and pork or the xiaolongbao, a type of steamed soup dumpling.

At night, explore Shanghai’s exciting nightlife. Visit the French Concession, known for its extensive array of bars and clubs, or try something different and enjoy a live jazz or rock music venue.
